Instrumental violin playing that lets you escape everyday life

Armed with only three amps, a lot of effect pedals, a microphone and a violin the Canadian Jessica Moss apty manages to tap into our imagination. Moss is known for her work as a guest player on Funeral by Arcade Fire and as a member of the touring band Feist as well as of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra for 15 years. Her arrangements display a distinctive signature style: narrative and extensive pieces, often instrumental and influenced by Balkan and Middle Eastern music. Sometimes her music can be quite ominous, at other moments soothing and a way to escape everyday life. Check out her latest record for instance – Phosphenes – it’ll have you staring contemplatively out of your window in no time.
