UNPREDICTABLE CLASH BETWEEN JAZZ AND POETRY

In this performance, language and music will harmoniously engage in dialogue. It is difficult to predict which direction this will be taking: for both the audience and these masters of improvisation themselves! The warm, mellifluous voice of Monica Akihary and the inventive guitar playing of Niels Brouwer will ensconce the audience on a soft bed of sound. Monica sings in the mysterious, Austronesian language Haruku, and engages in interplay with poet Joost Baars. He will be reading from his volume of poetry entitled Binnenplaats, published this year, as well as reciting new work. The programme is partly in Dutch, but we do encourage you to take in this special performance, to see and listen to all it has to offer.
