Children of the North

At first sight, authors Auke Hulst, Nyk de Vries and Fieke Gosselaar have little in common. Their books are entirely different. However, they do share one feature: they’re all children of the North. Hulst is from Hoogezand-Sappemeer, while Fieke Gosselaar was born in Finsterwolde. Nyk de Vries is known for his autobiographical work, reflecting on his childhoos in the Frisian woods. Northern culture was a major factor in shaping them, both on a personal level and as writers. What was the influence of this wild, windy region on their art and existence as an artist? They will share this personal tale with you at Explore the North.
